Pricing
With this particular arm priced at £71.99 a lot of the cost is based not only around the solid build of the item itself and also its ease of use, but also the convenience and the practical use that it allows when a monitor is fitted to it, giving a far more efficient working space below.
Overview
Trying to have a desk space that is clean and free of clutter is something that I’m sure many of us would love to have – sadly I wish my desk here would stay tidy all the time, but due to the nature of what I do of course, this is not going to happen for long to be honest. Having the monitor arms however do help with increasing the desk space that I have to work with as opposed to working around three screens that are sat on the desk.
Being able to rotate the head of each arm round in to a portrait orientation is a huge advantage for me personally as the monitors I do have don’t do this on their own accord and with the editor that I use to write my articles on eTeknix, having the screen in a portrait orientation is far more beneficial for myself and I’m sure many others too.
The arm itself is not overly heavy in respect of others that I’ve seen in the past, but at the same time it’s not so light that it feels like it may not be able to handle the weight of a screen. The setup process is also very straight forward and to be honest I feel that even a novice user would be able to put this together without having to look at the manual.
On a compatibility front, whilst the arm is stated to cater for up to 30″ panels, make sure you consult the specification listings for your screen if you have a large panel (or looking at buying one) as at this end of the scale they do get rather heavy and with 9kg being the upper limit of what this arm can handle, some monitors are simply going to be too much for the arm to hold. As mentioned previously however, for the most part this arm is going to hold most panels with VESA 75 or 100 mounting capabilities with ease. Depending on the setup environment, an arm with an elbow in the middle may be more appropriate and this is also available to buy in a similar kit with the same weight constraints.
Overall I am very impressed with the LCT420A single monitor arm from Peerless AV; the removable VESA bracket especially is ideal for situations where a quick removal of the screen from the arm is needed with minimal fuss. A solid footing and a sturdy arm round off this product as a good item to consider for anyone who is looking to maximise their desk space.
