The Personal Data of 600,000+ USPS Employees Leaked in a New Hack

The hacking continues, with the United States Postal Service (USPS) the latest to be hit, with its employees’ private, personal data being leaked. This includes names, addresses, social security numbers and more of its 600,000+ staff being leaked.

David Partenheimer, a spokesperson for USPS said “We began investigating this incident as soon as we learned of it, and we are cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing.” He continued “The investigation is being led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and joined by other federal and postal investigatory agencies. The intrusion is limited in scope and all operations of the Postal Service are functioning normally.”

The company says that in-store customer data wasn’t hacked, but customers who contacted USPS through e-mail or phone between January 1 and August 16, 2014 may have been exposed.
