PGA Looks Set to Boost Developer Innovation with $20m Fund

The Polish Games Association (PGA) is a collaboration between the government, as well as a wide range of games development studios which includes CD Projekt, Techland, Vivd, and more. The move will help show just how vital Poland has become in the EU, as well as in a global market when it comes to being a powerhouse for games development.

The initiative will support Polish game developers by helping fund their research and development projects while sharing their own knowledge with the rest of the industry. The fund is already established at $20m and up and coming developers will be able to apply for 40% and 80% of the cost of their project, dependent on the scale, company size, and how much they agree to share from their research.

Having big studios such as CD Projekt on board is a huge boost too, given they’re the most successful studio in Poland, but quite a large margin. Not that any of the others have been doing amazing things over the years too!

“This is a program designed to increase the competitiveness of the Polish video game sector using R&D,” says Stan Just, head of R&D at CD Projekt. “We want to stimulate innovation in studios, which already have some experience, and encourage new companies to start working on more innovative projects.”

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
