Phanteks‘ flagship Enthoo Elite case drew plenty of attention at their CES 2017 suite in Las Vegas earlier in January. However, another stunning case was in the room that sought to redefine the mini-ITX HTPC design. This case bearing the name of SHIFT and SHIFT X is finally available at a surprisingly low price.
Although the SHIFT and SHIFT X are compact cases, they sport a unique layout. These were originally the Project 217 and 217S prototypes at CES, and they retain much of the same design. It blends the sleek modern styling expected of a Phanteks case, with a contemporary approach that won’t look out-of-place in the living room.
The main difference between the two is that the SHIFT X is taller, however they both have similar styles and can be a tower case or laid flat on the side. Both have a CPU height clearance of up to 82mm, however the X version supports up to 529mm long GPUs compared to the SHIFT’s 350mm. The SHIFT X also has the advantage of using an ATX size power supply other than the SFX and SFX-L options.
Both cases will be available starting in August 2017 with two color options: Anthracite Grey and Satin Black. The EVOLV SHIFT has an MSRP of only $109.99, while the EVOLV SHIFT X has a price of $159.99 USD.
