Phanteks Eclipse G500A Mid-Tower Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?
This is a premium case with a lot of high-end features and some very lovely fans included too. With that in mind, the price isn’t actually that bad though, with it ranging from £120 to £150 depending on which version you get. That’s cheaper than the Corsair 5000D Airflow and the NZXT H7, which are both strong competition for this, but the G500A can certainly hold its own as it’s got some truly superb build quality and design throughout.

Overview
Whichever version you choose, you’re getting the same extremely high-quality PC case from Phanteks. The main differences are colour and fan configuration. I would personally get the cheapest one with no fans in black. However, as you can see from my build today, the white version with the full RGB fan configuration is truly something amazing and I’m sure that’s going to appeal to many people too.
While this case doesn’t really have any features I haven’t seen on previous Phanteks cases, it certainly takes a different approach than many of their rivals. It often feels like most cases come from the same factory and even the same design team, despite the brand changing. However, on Phanteks, everything feels bespoke. The way they mount the side panels on lift-off hinges still isn’t that common. The rubber gasket and tool-free locking of the side panels.
Then you have the rear cable routing covers, completely not needed, but they’re just so damn nice and keep everything in exceptionally good order, even if it is all out of sight once you’ve done it. Even the quality of the cable straps is higher than it needs to be. Those sliding and lockable cable routing covers are really cool too, resulting in the cleanest cable management you can get on any case these days, and it takes so little effort.
The HDD cages are stunning, and while I don’t use 3.5″ drives in my build these days, I appreciate their modular and tool-free design of them. Of course, they can be used for 2.5″ drives too, and they’ve included all the screws you’ll need to mount up to 9 SSDs. There are three SSD mounts right behind the motherboard too, which is rare, as most cases only have one or two of these.
Radiator and fan support is extensive throughout, and with that new and improved high airflow front panel mesh design, it doesn’t matter if you’re going for loads of fans or big radiators, the Phanteks G500A is ticking all the right boxes for any kind of build.
Should I Buy One?
The Phanteks G500A is in a league of its own. It’s a truly exceptional PC case with loads of really great features, room for lots of high-end hardware, and it’s so easy to work with that first-time system builders will find it a joy to work with, while still having a range of features that are sure to please the enthusiast builders and modders. One of the best cases money can buy.
