A Closer Look – Exterior

Straight away, the Phanteks P400 makes a striking statement. The chassis features a full-size tempered glass side panel window that shows off a stunning view of the interior; best keep that cable management in order!

Down the right-hand side, things are a lot more reserved, with a solid black panel, fitted in place by two thumb screws.

The front panel has a clean yet interesting design. The closed front cover keeps the system looking neat and tidy. Of course, there’s plenty of ventilation at the top and bottom, allowing for indirect airflow to the front fans. Indirect airflow usually helps cut down the noise levels from your system.

Around the back, things are fairly standard looking, with all the usual hardware mounts. A few nice touches, however, are the elongated screw mounts for the rear fan, a screw guard on the expansion slots, and a slide-out dust filter for the PSU.

At the top of the front panel, you’ll find controls for fan speed, lighting, and the reset button. These buttons are actually hidden under the front edge. The main power control is LED lit, and colour matches the ambient light inside the chassis.

For those who seek silence from their rig, you’ll see two sound proof panels on the top mounts. However, there are magnetic dust filter covers included in the box should you need them.

Behind those covers, you’ll find support for 2 x 120mm or 2 x 140mm fans. Of course, you could also fit up to a 240/280mm radiator too.

On the base, four large feet give excellent ground clearance. This should give plenty of airflow to the PSU air intake at the rear.
