Recently, during the ChinaJoy 2024 event, developers from S-GAME and Game Science made bold statements about their upcoming games, Phantom Blade Zero and Black Myth: Wukong. They clarified that while these titles are not exclusive to PlayStation, Xbox versions are not a priority for them.
No Exclusivity, Just Preferences
In an interview, an S-GAME developer stated, “No one needs this platform,” referring to Xbox. The developer explained that Xbox lacks popularity in Asia, and Microsoft’s ecosystem is difficult to develop for due to its complexity.
Both Phantom Blade Zero and Black Myth: Wukong were showcased at the event under the PlayStation banner. However, the developers assured attendees that no exclusivity agreements with Sony are in place. They highlighted that PlayStation provides extensive support, including debugging tools and engineering assistance, but this does not limit their platform choices.
Black Myth: Wukong is set to release on August 20, 2024, for PC and PlayStation 5, while Phantom Blade Zero is expected around 2026.
