Phenom II X6 processors to be scrapped by AMD

It is common knowledge AMD is about to launch the new Bulldozer platform. To make way for these new processors AMD has decided to halt production of Phenom II X6 processors by next year sometime according to this source.

The first processors to face the chop will be the 1055T and 1045T which will be axed sometime in the next few months. The 1065T, 1075T, 1090T and 1100T will all be scrapped sometime in Q1 of 2012. However, there was not much news in the way of the other processors in the range but it is expected the Athlon II’s and Phenom II X4’s will hold on for a lot longer as the demand for them is substantial still.

  1. And here's Leo, still hoping to experience the power of these soon-to-be scrapped processors T_T

  2. It wouldnt suprises me if AMD take the phenom II and turn them into the budet CPU instead of the Athlon II but in 32mn

  3. makes sense as they will probably be in the same price range as the new CPU's so probably wont b able to compete

  4. Good point lucas4 you won't pay the same for an old CPU when you can get the latest for around the same price.

  5. Come to think tho, y don't AMD just drop the price of the black edition CPU to sub £90 as this will b massive competiton for Intel considering a decent AMD board is also so much cheaper!
