Philips 27B1U5601H 27″ Business Monitor Review

A Closer Look

This is a lovely-looking monitor, there’s no doubt about that. Sure, it’s mostly just panel, but the little details such as the quality of the materials, the clean-looking bezel and the compact and tasteful stand all make for a pleasant product. Considering you’ll likely be looking at my monitor for many hours a day, the little detail details go a long way.

At the top of the monitor, there’s a 5.0-megapixel camera with microphone and LED indicator (for Windows Hello), this is great for practicality, you can make video calls, the microphones mean you don’t need an additional peripheral on your desk, and Windows Hello can be used for device security too. There’s a pair of 5W speakers on this monitor too, and noise cancelling technology!

Around the back, the monitor is very stylish with some soft curves and lines that give it a modest art deco look. Actually, I think I prefer this to their more gamer-focused designs, I’d like more high-end gaming stuff that has a slick and stylish look to it like this.

The stand looks great too, and while it appears fairly slim and compact, it’s very durable and stable.

The base allows the stand to turn -/+ 180 degrees so turning the display to show someone something is easily done.

You can pivot the monitor -/+90 degrees meaning you can achieve a portrait mode or flipped portrait mode to suit your needs.

There are -5/30 degrees of tilt too.

And finally, an impressive level of height adjustment. Here it is at the lowest setting.

However, you can lift it up by a whopping 150mm!

There’s a small I/O hub on the side here, which includes a headphone jack.

The main I/O is great too, with more USB, DP In and DP Out, HDMI, Type-C and RJ45. That means you can hook up your computer, laptop and more with Type-C, and DP Out means you can even daisy chain more than one monitor; neat!

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
