How Much Does it Cost?

The Philips 27B1U5601H 27 Inch QHD Monitor is available now for £459.99 on Amazon. That is a lot of money for a monitor of this size, but it’s packing some seriously impressive features that add value… well, not add value, you’re getting more and paying more, but the price is certainly justified in the end. You get a monitor of a high standard, so without all the extra stuff, I’d still expect a price of around £300. The extra £150-ish gives you that USB-C 100W Power Deliver, a good quality webcam, a KVM switch, overall decent I/O connectivity and even the ability to daisy chain multiple DisplayPort displays. A worthy investment if you ask me, and by being here reading this, you sort of did ask me.

Overview

Philips are one of the biggest and best names in the business, and I think that shines through brilliantly with their latest monitor. It’s a premium quality product in every regard, and while I did think it was a bit expensive, having spent some time with it, I can see that it is money well invested. The additional features on this monitor make it one of the most versatile and usable monitors I’ve ever reviewed.

In our smaller office at home, my partner uses two laptops on a shelf under her desk, and a single monitor on top. We have speakers, a KVM switch, and other gadgets, and with this monitor… we don’t need all that extra crap, just plug everything into the monitor, 1 Type-C cable to the first laptop, 1 more to the other, and bam, it’s ready to rock.

However, this is still a monitor review, and really I can not fault it. The panel is lovely, with great colour reproduction and retention thanks to the IPS panel. It delivered good contrast, excellent brightness, and a crisp and clear image thanks to the panel size and resolution. I mean, what more do you want than that!

If you’re looking for a monitor for your office space where you plan on doing more work and productivity tasks than gaming, this monitor really is a swiss army knife of features. The speakers are actually usable for media consumption, you can make video calls, run multiple computers and even charge your laptop from it. Plus, even if you did want to do some gaming on the evening too, it still performs great!
