Philips Announces 43-Inch 4K Monitor

Philips is a pioneering manufacturer when it comes to displays and launched the world’s first quantum dot monitor sporting impeccable colour accuracy. Consumers can now select from a huge range of monitor sizes and the larger variants are proving to be quite popular. For example, 34-inch 3440×1440 panels utilising the 21:9 aspect ratio are on the rise due to the immersive experience and enhanced productivity. Some time ago, Philips unveiled a 40-inch VA-based 4K monitor which provides an unbelievable desktop experience. Today, the company announced the successor to this product, entitled the BDM4350UC.
This revised model opts for a 43-inch form factor and IPS LCD panel. Furthermore, the response time is rated to 5ms (G2G) and features a typical static contrast ratio of 1200:1. The unit supports flicker free technology and capable of outputting 1.07 billion colours via 10 bits. The brightness level is set at 300cd/m2 and has a uniformity between 96-105%. As you might expect, the monitor uses a 4K 60Hz panel with 178 degree viewing angles. In terms of connectivity, the display incorporates four USB 3.0 ports (one cable of fast charging), VGA, two DisplayPorts, two HDMI 2.0 (MHL), and line-in. The unit also houses two 7 watt speakers which should have decent audio quality.
The monitor measures a total of 968 x 630 x 269 mm with the stand and weighs 9.72Kg. This isn’t too heavy considering the incredibly large screen size. Saying that, many people adjusted to the 40-inch model rather quickly. I personally use a 34 inch 3440×1440 monitor and couldn’t use anything smaller. Given the excellent reputation of its predecessor, I’m looking forward to seeing how different the experience will be with a slightly lower pixels-per-inch rate. While the stand looks very sleek, it’s pretty basic with a complete lack of ergonomic adjustments. Albert Ulfman, Product Manager of Philips monitors Europe at MMD said about their latest product:
“The latest addition to the 4K line-up testifies to the ongoing commitment of Philips and MMD to making the viewing experience more productive and brilliant than ever. With this 43-inch display on their desk, users have more space to enjoy the clarity and brilliance of the 4K UHD viewing experience,”
The new Philips 43-inch BDM4350UC display will be available in the beginning of May at a recommended retail price of £1169,99.
