Philips Announces The Brilliance 258B WQHD Monitor

Philips has unveiled the Brilliance 258B6QJEB monitor which features a 25-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display, 178 degree viewing angles, 5 ms response time and 350 cd/m² maximum brightness level. The panel is based on AH-IPS technology to produce vivid, sharp colours and the display to resolution ratio results in a beautiful picture without causing any scaling problems.
In terms of connectivity, the monitor contains dual-link DVI, HDMI, D-Sub, and DisplayPort options while integrating a 4-port USB hub. Although two of these ports run at the slower USB 2.0 speed. The backlight is powered by a W-LED non-PWM method which results in flick free operation. Philips decided to use a high-quality metal stand with a huge array of adjustments including height, tilt, swivel and pivot. The release date is currently unknown and pricing is expected around the $350 mark. Monitor manufacturers tend to focus on 4K panels and some even adopt this resolution on 24-25 inch displays. While the end result is crisp, the scaling and absurdly small text is very difficult to manage especially on older Windows operating systems.
For gaming or productivity, 2560×1440 is the optimal resolution and fits with a screen size most users would find comfortable. I honestly wouldn’t recommend any 4K panel under 32 inch for daily usage.
