Philips GamePix 900 4K@60 HD@240 Gaming Projector Review
The quest for ultimate gaming immersion often leads down the path of ever-larger displays. While massive TVs grab headlines and dominate the high-end, projectors offer the potential for truly cinematic screen sizes without necessarily demanding a second mortgage. However, historically, this meant compromising on crucial gaming metrics like input lag and refresh rates, contrast, brightness and a whole host of things; trade-offs that most serious gamers weren’t willing to make, especially as low latency and higher refresh rates are paramount in today’s market.
Philips GamePix 900
Philips is a well-known household name, but has long been a strong contender in the PC display market, both with professional business displays, and more recently, a growing number of high-end gaming products (such as this projector). Their all-new dedicated gaming projector, the GamePix 900, looks set to grab your attention. This isn’t just any projector; it’s built from the ground up with gamers in mind, promising gaming-centric features alongside that wall-filling potential. The goal? To bridge the gap between the sheer scale that a projector can offer and the responsiveness needed for competitive play on both modern consoles and high-end gaming PCs.
I currently own a BenQ W2700i 4K HDR projector, and I like it a lot, but it’s limited to 60Hz at both Full HD and 4K, and its input latency is a bit last decade, rather than cutting edge. With the Philips being capable of doing 60Hz at 4K and 240Hz and Full HD, with latency up to 10x lower than my own projector, the difference should be pretty darn significant.
