Philips ProPix 850 Projector Review

The Philips projector range is growing, and while we loved their home-focused models, their new one is a little more serious. The ProPix 850 is the perfect choice for corporate and educational settings, offering great clarity and detail with its impressive 4000 ANSI lumens of brightness. Operating at only 29 dBA (Eco Mode), the ProPix 850 is ideal for meeting rooms and classrooms. This projector delivers a Full HD 1920×1080 resolution and 1600:1 native contrast ratio, ensuring your presentations are always crisp and clear. Sure, you could always use it to watch a few episodes of Simpsons once the boss has gone home, which, unsurprisingly is one of the things I’ll be doing with it very shortly.
Philips ProPix 850 Projector
For productivity connectivity is important, and it’s well taken care of here, as the ProPix 850 features dual HDMI inputs and an integrated RS232 port. The dual HDMI ports are nice though, as it means you can easily pair up a couple of laptops or a desktop simultaneously.
The new ProPix is capable of projecting from 70″ up to 150″ images, with a throw ratio of 1.49:1, which means that they can create a 120″ display from just a 4-metre away. Furthermore, it supports 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10 aspect ratios, comes with a manual focus, and an impressive level of vertical keystone correction of +/- 40 degrees. There’s also a 2W speaker system built in, more than enough for use in a small to medium-sized room.
Plus, at just 2.5 kg they’re surprisingly portable for a projector of this proper level, making them suitable to move around the office or even travel with if you have presentations to make in multiple locations.
Signify UHP Lamp Light
The ProPix 850 uses only UHP lamps by Signify, designed to provide a perfectly stable colour spectrum and picture quality over the longest lifetime, up to 6,000 hours of lamp life, which is twice of other lamp-based projectors in the market. This can be pushed to around 10,000 hours by using the Eco Mode, which is exceptional for a projector in this price range, as the ProPix will cost around £599.

I want to give massive credit to Philips for their product trailer too, they showed it in a real-world work environment; a bright office, in the daytime. They showed it in an imperfect but realistic setting and didn’t use computer trickery to make the projected image look perfect, it’s a bit washed out, as would even the best of the best projectors in this setting due to ambient light pollution; honest marketing always gets a thumbs up from me.
