I always like to see a good example of karmic justice, especially if the event is actually filmed and released for all to see. Not too long ago, a Brazilian MMA fighter named Monique Bastos managed to tackle a phone thief and hold him in a chokehold with her legs for 15 minutes until the police arrived. Monique was accompanied by two of her friends when they were approached by a pair of robbers. The robbers managed to take their phones, but when the MMA fighter realized that they were actually unarmed, she chased them down and managed to catch one of them. The guy who actually stole her phone ran away, but his friend paid a heavy price for being an accomplice.
Here is how Bastos explained the incident:
“I was going to my jiu-jitsu training when they arrived on a motorcycle and said they wanted our phones. I tried to hold my phone, and I realized they were not armed. When they tried to escape, I lifted the rear wheel of the bike and they fell on the ground. The guy who took my phone ran away, but I was able to get the other one.”
Apparently, this is the second time that the MMA fighter has stopped a robbery.
“I’ve been through this a few times before, and it’s the second time I fought back. There were two guys, and they were using knives, but I was able to use my jiu-jitsu and get my phone back. It’s a huge risk, but I did it to defend myself and my friends, so I used what I learned.”
Below you will find a video of her holding down the phone thief while waiting for the police. Keep in mind the video may be NSFW.
