All Photos Shot by Apollo Astronauts on the Moon Can Be Seen on Flickr

Most of us have already seen some of the most famous videos and pictures captured during the Moon landing, but we never really got a chance to browse through the entire image collection. Fortunately, Flickr now includes all of the photos shot by Apollo astronauts using the Hasselblad cameras mounted on their chests. The 8,400 photos were uploaded by the Project Apollo Archive, and they represent unprocessed versions of original NASA scans. Some of them are incredibly breathtaking while others are blurry outtakes or less successful shots. According to the archive’s founder, Kipp Teague, the collection incorporates every single photograph taken during the journey to the Moon and back.

Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon’s surface, and it took place on July 20, 1969. Between 1969 and 1972, there have been a total of six manned U.S. landings, and even though the Soviets were actually the first ones to successfully land a human-made object on the Moon in 1959, the U.S. is the only country to have successfully conducted manned missions to the Earth’s natural satellite.

You can have a look at some of the collection’s highlights below, but if you want to browse through the entire archive, you should probably head over to Flickr.

Thank you PetaPixel for providing us with this information.
