A single PiXL CM24F32I 24-inch Full HD IPS monitor will set you back around £100 on Amazon and from many smaller retailers, so be sure to shop around, as there are deals all over the place on these. Their dual monitor mount is anywhere from £14-25, depending on where you shop. However, quite a few retailers are selling two monitors and the stand for £190-220.
When I heard about this bundle, I figured the screens would be too small and low quality, but they’ll get the job done reasonably. Depending on how you look at it, that does hold true, but certainly not to the degree I expected. I use 32″ monitors, I’m used to that, so yeah, 24″ does seem a bit small. That being said, it’s certainly usable at 1080p. Everything was clean and clear to read, and it’s not like Full HD isn’t common in our daily lives anyway.
The build quality is good, with only a few minor cost-saving aspects. The stands are small, lightweight and require a screwdriver to assemble. Thankfully, it only takes a few minutes, but they’re pretty basic. The rear of the monitor is pretty bland looking too, but honestly, a cheap stand and a boring back? I can live with that… plus, there’s another stand in this bundle anyway.
I didn’t run a full calibration on this monitor, it felt completely unnecessary as I doubt anyone is using a few hundred quids worth of calibration tool on a £100 monitor. However, the display analysis tool showed some promising results. Hitting 99% of sRGB and 76% of AdobeRGB is decent enough. The colour accuracy had an average of 1.93 which is exceptionally good. The monitor said that Magenta was a little strong, but honestly, it wasn’t that bad and colours look good to the eye for movies and gaming. Even in the same test, the calibration gave it a 4/5 for colour accuracy.
From setting up a new multitasking workspace to adding two more monitors to the sides of your existing setup, the latest bundle from piXL is incredibly good value for money. Two monitors and a dual monitor stand will provide you with plenty of flexibility. That being said, at £100 each, the monitors would make a welcome addition to any desktop as a primary or secondary display. I’m going for the full Editors Choice award this time, as this isn’t just bang for buck material, these are great little monitors and the extra stand just sweetens the deal.
