Plantronics Gamecom 777 Gaming Headset Review

Final Thoughts
This headset is very functional and performs well. It is also priced pretty reasonably so seems ideal for lots of people. However there are a few flaws, for starters there is not much control over the sound that you hear – you have a volume control and a mic mute switch and that is it. There are no options to change the bass or any other levels. Comparing this to the Roccat Kave for instance, you would find the surround sound not as convincing but it has a softer more pleasant tone and better sound quality. This headset is not as big and bulky as the Roccat Kave and as such feels nicer to wear for longer periods of time. The bass sound is also very impressive, it is powerful but soft edged and with a real nice tone. Lots of headsets have a generic ‘bass thump’, but this produces hundreds of pleasant bass notes and tones. This headset will show off all of your music to its best, whether it is classical, Dubstep or general rock and roll it will do your music justice. I would go as far as saying you will hear some of your music in a different light when listening with this headset because it reproduces the sounds so precisely with a brilliant quality.

The main thing I like about this device is its simplicity; it is 100% plug and play. You plug it in, wait a matter of 2/3 seconds and then start listening to music or playing games. There are no drivers to install, no manuals to read and best of all it just works. Being able to plug it into USB is also a great advantage meaning it doesn’t have to become a permanent part of your computer, if however you use a laptop and are running out of USB ports you can still plug it in via the headphone and microphone jacks giving the best of both worlds.

I highly recommend this device, it is a very serious contender for the best value gaming headset out there as you get so much quality for your money.

Pros
:

  • Plug and Play with one USB cable
  • Nice tone and sound quality
  • A natural sounding bass while maintaining crisp voice
  • Good price
  • Soft headband making it very comfortable to wear

Cons:

  • There are better surround sound headphones out there (but not for this price)
  • Remote doesn’t allow you to adjust sound balance
