Grand Theft Auto 4 has already been modded within an inch of its life, and while there are many mods that work to improve the games realism, to great effect I might add, nothing can beat actually getting into the game world and exploring it in the first person.
OK maybe you can’t actually be in the game world, but you can explore it through tools such as the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. Add in a virtualizer motion sensor and a Wii remote and you’ve got an impressively immerser experience on your hands.
The creator of the setup said “I totally forgot reality and my mind was in Liberty City.” and after watching the video, we have to agree that it looks pretty spectacular and while I don’t have room in my house for the Virtualizer, I still want to at least play GTA IV through the Oculus Rift.
“In this video, you see me in GTA 4 VR with the Virtualizer, the Oculus Rift and a Wii mote. I totally forgot reality and my mind was in Liberty City. I also show the sitting function of the Virtualizer in this video. You can adjust it to your body height and use it while driving a car or a tank, sitting in a helicopter or other vehicles. You can also use it to rest a while when you are exhausted of escaping from the cops hehe. “
The modding community never stops blowing my mind and while you do need some expensive hardware at your disposal to enjoy this mod it certainly looks epic.
