In America, the Xbox 360 is king. It’s sold stronger than the PlayStation 3 for a large part of the current gen race and it’s even held onto the number one spot every month for the last 32 months, an impressive result for Microsoft. Yet in true combo breaking style the PlayStation 3 has edged out in front a NDA reports tell us that it’s the recent Grand Theft Auto V bundle that tempted gamers to make the switch to the Sony console.
Things are looking up for Nintendo too, Wii U sales have tripled month on month in September after a recent price cut, as well as the release of the new Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD bundle.
It’s not exactly doom and gloom for Microsoft though, holding that #1 spot for so long has been good to the Xbox and global sales for the system have no passed 80 million units.
Next-gen might be about to start in a big way, but current gen consoles are still going to be big sellers for at least another two years as prices slowly and inevitably come down.
