The PlayStation 4 is still at least a few months away from release and pre-orders aren’t being taken yet but interest in the new console is very high. GameStop company president, Tony Bartel, expressed that there is strong purchasing intent from customers and consumer research suggested 34% of polled consumers (in the USA) intended to buy a PlayStation 4.
GameStop said that 900,000 consumers had signed up for early information about retail availability of the PlayStation 4. GameStop believe that based on their figures the PlayStation 4 launch will result in significantly higher demand than supply and as a result the PlayStation 4 systems could be sold out for most of the holiday season.
“We do believe demand will far outpace supply within the launch window, although we have been given no official numbers by Sony,” Bartel stated.
Sony will release the PlayStation 4 in North America during the 2013 Holiday Season but the exact date is still undetermined. At Sony’s E3 Press Conference more details are expected including images of the product, pricing and maybe even some hardware specifications.
