Sony have finally pulled their finger out of their a$$ and announced the update many of us have been waiting for, the PlayStation 4 will finally get 3D blu-ray support from next week! This might not seem like a big deal to a lot of people, but the PlayStation 3 has been 3D Blu-Ray capable for ages now, and it’s been one of the best value for money 3D players on the market. The fact that PlayStation 4 didn’t have this feature was a sticking point for many movie fans as it meant that they couldn’t trade in their PlayStation 3, or at least had to keep it installed in their main AV setup to enjoy 3D movies, until now.
Interestingly, this news comes just days after Microsoft said they’ll have 3D support soon, which tells me Sony threw a bunch of developers into a room, locked the door and said they’re not going to let them out until 3D Blu-Ray support is ready… which sucks for them, but it’s a win for us consumers.
