PlayStation 4 Outselling Xbox One In The US, But Xbox One Not Far Behind.

The PlayStation 4 has gotten off to a great start and latest NPD reports hsow that the PS4 has out sold the Microsoft Xbox One in North America last month. Currenly the PlayStation 4 has found a home in 2.1 million homes in the US, while the Xbox One is just behind with 2 million. The figure may not sound much, but an extra 100,000 consumers putting their cash down, as well as buying games and peripherals can really make a big difference.
Sony are not done yet either, as PlayStation 4 demand far out strips supply and the console is near impossible to obtain without a pre-order, or without paying over the top on sites like eBay. The Xbox One is also sold out in many places, and while Sony can chalk up a win on this front, both consoles are selling incredibly well, so I doubt Microsoft will be upset with their figures as Xbox One clocked “fastest selling console” thanks to being able to shift 101,000 units a day between November 22nd to November 30th, allowing it a quick catch up to the PlayStation 4’s 2 week head start in the US.
“PlayStation 4 sales in North America and worldwide have been incredibly strong since launch, culminating in PS4 being recognized as the largest console launch in history. In North America alone, more than one million PS4 units were sold in only 24 hours and we’re pleased NPD has reported that PS4 was the top selling next gen platform for both hardware and software in November. We are humbled by the passion and excitement demonstrated by gamers for PS4. Demand continues to overwhelm supply, but we’re working hard to get PS4 units into the hands of customers throughout the holiday season.” – SCEA CEO and president Jack Tretton
There are still a few weeks to Christmas and loads of time for a Christmas winner to be crowned, although I think PlayStation 4 is going to be the safe bet this year.
