Nowadays, even though the price difference, SSDs offer so much advantages that we keep looking for one to boost our system. Plextor have today added their latest offering in this category with the M3S, a 2.5” SSD offering three capacities and some great features.
Presenting speeds of 525MB/s in sequential read and 445MB/s in sequential write while random speeds reach up to 70,000 IOPS in read and 65,000 IOPS in write, these speeds can be benefitted over the three capacities: 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.
One of the M3S’ key features is the exclusive firmware True Speed technology, designed to prevent drastic drops in read/write speeds that normally occur with SSDs after prolonged use or when data becomes heavily fragmented. Other features also include Plextor’s Bad Block Management, Global Wear Leveling and Instant Restore technologies, all working towards performance enhancement.
Operating over a SATA III 6Gb/s interface with a server-grade Marvell controller, the Toshiba 24nm NAND flash support a 1.8V power mode that allow the M3S to work with extremely low-power consumption, therefore making it eco-friendly.
Another feature found on the M3S is the award winning disk cloning, backup and analysis utility, making data migration from HDD to SSD an easy and hassle free task.
With the 3.5” mounting brackets and screws included, The M3S can be installed on both a laptop or a desktop without any trouble of compatibility.
Offering great performances , the Plextor M3S with capacities of 128GB and 256GB will be available late-November for a respective price of $199.99 and $349.99 while the 512GB version should be available around the first quarter of 2012 for $699.99.
