Software: PlexTool and PlexTurbo
Plextor has a great set of software tools available to all Plextor drive owners. You can download them for free from the official website and they are well worth it.
PlexTool v.1.2.2
The PlexTool is an SSD toolbox that allows you to keep track of your drives health as well as perform maintenance options.
The tool also comes with a built-in help pane that describes the tool and its functions.
A secure erase/format feature is also built into the tool. Not a function that’s needed often, but great to have right in the toolbox when you do need it.
You can update the firmware too if there is a newer version available. This might improve the performance or fix possible bugs.
It even comes with a small diagnostics benchmark too.
The last page contains all the details from the S.M.A.R.T. system.
PlexTurbo
PlexTurbo allows you to improve the performance of your Plextor SSD by quite a bit. It does so by using a little portion of your system memory as a RAM disk. This speeds up your transfer speeds on files that are frequently accessed, but it also increases the lifetime of your drive by performing fewer writes. Once the tool is installed, you can access it through its tray icon.
There aren’t many settings available for the app, but there are a few – mainly the size and release time.
