Plugable USB-C Mini Docking Station with Power Delivery Review

Pricing and Final Thoughts

The USB-C Mini Docking Station with 85W charging power is quite affordable. At least when compared to other docking stations on the market. At the time of this review, it can be yours for £134.95 or $129.00 through Amazon.

Conclusion

I’ve tested quite a few docking stations over the years, both through my private life as well as here at eTeknix. While they all do they same, there are small differences which can make or break the deal for you. After all, you’ll want a docking station which suits your needs completely, and not just partially.

Plugable’s USB-C Mini Docking Station is a great solution which will suit a lot of people. It allows you to hook everything up to your laptop with just a single cable. That is thanks to the built-in power delivery system. This can make the connection of your laptop easier and cleaner when you get back home or into the office.

Once connected, you can’t just charge your laptop. After all, this is a docking station and not a charger. You also have up to four USB 3.0 devices, wired networking, audio connections, and a 4K monitor support.

A nice bonus with the Plugable USB-C Mini Docking Station is the included VESA mounting kit. Tug the docking station away onto the back of your monitor and have an even cleaner setup. One of the things I really like here is that you don’t attach the dock directly, but use a clamping system instead. This allows for easy removal when needed, even if it’s just for a brief moment.

Pros

  • 4K Monitor support
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Detachable USB-C cable
  • Four USB 3.0 (1x Charging)
  • Small and VESA mountable

Cons

  • 4K monitor support only offers 30Hz (lower resolutions go up to 60Hz)

“Plugable’s USB-C Mini Docking Station with Charging is an affordable solution which allows you to connect your laptop with a single cable. That’s perfect!”
