The PNY GTX 950 has a limited availability in the UK, with just Scan Computers stocking it at £131.94. Stock availability across the rest of the world is just as limited with no reputable retailers stocking the card from our searches.
Overview
We have had a pretty good experience with the GTX 950 range with solid 1080p performance at a low price. This is a great option for anyone on a budget looking for sustainable 60FPS in most games, but this would certainly be better suited to games such as DOTA or League of Legends.
The performance is good as you would expect from the low factory clock speeds, it didn’t perform that well compared to the other GTX 950’s, but for the price it offers great price vs performance that is hard to ignore if you’re on a tight budget.
I have one major gripe with this card, it could have been at least 1-inch shorter and made this a more attractive option for the mITX market, but the unnecessary use of this extra PCB makes the entire unit look tacky.
So I hear some of you asking “why should I buy this card?”. It’s simple, the GTX 950 is designed for 1080p gameplay in low-end systems and for those on a tight budget. This card provides excellent performance per watt ratio and at a much lower price than the competition.
Pros
- Lowest price GTX 950 in our testing
- Low power requirement is perfect for low-end systems
- Solid 1080p performance
Cons
- Longer than needed PCB detracts from the overall feel of the card
- Clock speeds could have been increased from factory to compete more evenly with the competition
- Poor availability
“The GTX 950 range has firmly cemented its place at the £150 market segment, the PNY GTX 950 has blown that price out of the water with a starting price of around £130; a lot of card for the money.“
Thank you to PNY for providing this review sample.
