PNY introduces its new Brick Attaché USB flash drive

PNY Technologies Inc., one of the many DRAM and Flash memory manufacturers, have today unveiled a new product called the Brick Attaché USB Flash drive.

The Brick Attaché is a flash drive combining the usefulness of small storage device while featuring a design remembering a child’s toy yet using such a feature to its advantage.

The flash drive is made of a strong non-slip polymer material with a dotted embossed texture and is composed of two parts: the cap and the drive. While the drive is coloured in dark blue but partially white, the cap is entirely white. The drive has a wedge-shaped notch at the end (as can be seen in the pictures), the cap, however, has a similar shaped protrusion.

As you may have guessed/seen, this combination of notch and protrusion allows them to be stacked, so that the cap can be attached to the drive when plugged into a computer. Yet another functionality arises when you have multiple drive, they can also be stacked one after another to put in a specific order, avoid losing or both.

With the drive being very small, it comes useful to have the cap attached, as this allows to both see the drive and remove the drive from the computer more easily. Measuring 9.3 x 18.3 x 37.3 mm (HxWxL) and weighting just 6.6 g, the Brick Attaché is an extremely portable drive.

Equipped with a USB 2.0 interface, it’s available in capacities ranging from 2GB to 32GB, capacities 2, 4 and 8GB will feature read/write speed of up to 8/24 MB/s, while capacities 16 and 32GB will feature read/write speeds of up to 10/32 MB/s (respectively).

The Brick Attaché USB flash drive comes with a 5 year warranty and works with most recent versions of Windows and Mac OS 10.3 and above. Pricing and availability are hard to determine, although looking around you can find a 16GB  version for 25$ more or less.
