PNY has recently listed a China-exclusive RTX 4070 featuring a blower cooler mostly designed for workstation use cases.
This card based on the information shared by VideoCardz, is PNY’s first blower-style card for 40 series and hasn’t been designed with gamers in mind despite being a GeForce graphics card. Its design is about as plain as it gets with a full black shroud and backplate more in line with NVIDIA’s actual workstation offerings where blower-style coolers are more commonly seen. The blower design is much more popular for workstations due to its ability to be used in a cluster or in SLI conditions where blower-style coolers run cooler in clusters than fan-cooler GPUs do. The downside of blowers is their noise volume making them less appealing for gamers.
So why create a workstation-focused RTX 4070? Well, the reasoning is fairly similar to the recently released AFOX RTX 4090 blower card which is costs. Most workstation cards demand a fairly high price tag and for small-scale researchers or enthusiasts would much prefer a cheaper option for multi-GPU setups.
Unfortunately this card is currently only available in China at JD.com for a price as high as 6999 RMB, roughly £760, so if you’re out of luck if this is something you’d be wanting.
