Pokémon and Mario Coming to Nintendo NX

In an effort to prevent the slow launches it experienced with both the Wii U and the 3DS, Nintendo is planning to release a Pokémon and a Mario game within six months of the release of its new console, the NX, according to an MCV source.
“Developer Game Freak will bring Pokémon to the platform, while Nintendo’s first party titles include the previously announced Zelda game – Breath of the Wild – and a new Mario game,” MCV’s Christopher Dring revealed. “All three products are scheduled to appear within the first six months of the machine’s life.”
“The firm has also been busy securing third-party support, with Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Activision and Warner Bros already on-board,” Dring added.
MCV’s source also confirmed that Eurogamer’s report that the Nintendo NX is a portable/home console hybrid is “100 percent accurate,” adding that, graphically, the console is “somewhere between a PS3 and PS4.”
“[The Nintendo NX is] a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one,” one anonymous executive told MCV. “It won’t appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That’s going to be a big job for the marketing department.”
The Nintendo NX is set for release in March 2017.
