For most, there is a large amount of walking involved in their own real-life Pokemon journey, with Pokemon GO requiring players to travel around on foot to find Pokemon and visit nearby landmarks to find gyms that they can control in a kind of Pokemon turf-war and Pokestops that allow them to restock their supplies without spending real cash. But now some enterprising people are looking to circumvent the exercise part of the experience. We’ve already seen one player making use of a drone to carry his phone to locations for him, but now an advert on Craigslist has emerged offering services as a Pokemon GO chauffeur.
The man, who identifies himself on Craigslist as Mike B offers a number of benefits of his Pokemon GO chauffeur service for those too lazy to walk, including driving at a speed slow enough to trick the game into counting the travel towards Pokemon egg incubation and allowing customers to make their own routes or choose from one of his pre-defined journeys. The full posting can be found here.
This poster’s service is limited to the Baltimore area, but I have no doubt that many copycats offering the same service in other areas will spring up, eager to cash in the popularity of Pokemon GO. While this may be against the original spirit of the game, some may even see such services as akin to a Pokemon safari, where they’ll get to find and capture Pokemon in more distant locations they’d never visit themselves on foot.
