EDIT: The article appears to have originated from a source article and yes, we fell for it. What does it say when we can be fooled into thinking that people could get injured playing Pokémon GO? Now if you don’t mind me, I have an Eevee to evolve.
After a semi-successful release of the latest game in the long line of Pokémon games, Pokémon GO sees players walking around the real world trying to catch their favourite pocket monsters as they go about their lives (albeit it with a few more walks planned in their free time). The problem is that some people are getting a little too transfixed on the augmented reality game, causing trouble all over the US just in the first week since its release.
Even though the game warns you to pay attention there are some people that seem to believe that their dreams of being a Pokémon master come above their safety and the safety of others. 26-year-old Lamar Hickson was playing the new game as he was driving when he spotted a Pikachu. Hickson decided to stop his car in the middle of the highway in order to catch it, having admitted to the act to the police saying that “if you wanna catch them all you gotta risk it all so I put my car in park and started tossing these balls” and now has no idea what kind of charges he will face.
Luckily no one was injured, but it raises the serious concern about the games users and any augmented reality applications or systems distracting people from the task of driving.
