Popular Strategy City-Building Game Returns, Set in the Roman Empire

The Anno franchise is one of the most popular City Build Franchises ever and the next game in the franchise has just been announced and is set in the Roman Empire.

Anno 117: Pax Romana

Although we don’t know much about Anno 117: Pax Romana, that shouldn’t dampen your excitement, as the Anno franchise has consistently delivered hits. This one seems even more special, set back in the era of the Roman Empire, a favourite for just about everyone.

The gameplay will likely mirror that of the other Anno games, where you play as a Governor expanding your city, managing your citizens, and trading with other areas—all hallmarks of the series. This also includes narrative elements integrated into the gameplay, such as diplomacy and building up your army to conquer other regions and expand the Roman Empire.

“We will not only deliver the fantasy millions of strategy players are waiting for: to govern one of the most iconic ancient empires, we will push beyond that, and change how people see the Roman Empire in games,”

Creative Director Manuel Reinher

As mentioned before, this has all the signs of an amazing strategy game, following in the footsteps of the previous Anno games and set in the Roman Empire. However, it should be interesting to see how Ubisoft handles this one.
