Porsche Will Actually Produce Its Mission E Electric Sedan

Porsche has decided to give its the high-performance electric sedan concept dubbed Mission E the go-ahead for production. The electric-powered vehicle was presented for the first time during the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, and it boasts some impressive performance capabilities, as its electric motor is able to give off about 600 horsepower. This means that it can perform a 0-60 mph sprint in just 3.5 seconds, which is a bit slower when compared to the Model S P85D by Tesla, which features 762 horsepower and is able to do the same sprint in 2.8 seconds. With a range of more than 310 miles, this car definitely sounds appealing, and even though it’s not as fast as Tesla‘s offering, its charging times are considerably less.

Thanks to an 800-volt charger, Mission E will be able to charge up to 80% in just 15 minutes, which is a ridiculously low amount of time. Moreover, sources claim that the vehicle’s lithium-ion battery pack is going to be installed in the floor in order to ensure a low center of gravity. The chairman of Porsche’s executive board, Oliver Blume, said that Mission E will mark the start of a new chapter in the history of sports cars. Innovation, efficiency, and lower consumer prices are all driven by healthy competition between different companies, which is why I’m very glad to see that Porsche can actually bring something noteworthy to the electric car market.
