Patriot FUEL+ Mobile Rechargeable Battery 5200 mAh

Patriot have provided us with a much more simple looking offering, in the form of their 5,200 mAh FUEL+ device. As according to their website one of the key features of this product includes their inclusion of “two USB out ports, with one port offering 2.5 amps of power”. This provides you with an average of five times the charging power of your standard computer USB port – once again bringing up possible life-preservation issues in your smartphone or tablets internal battery.

Unfortunately for Patriot, we feel that they’ve cheapened out a little on their product packaging and external design of the device, this would mainly be due to the hard and shiny plastic along with a stark contrast color scheme. The LUXA 2 PL3 does have the upper hand in this argument, but there are more products to come alongside the fact that Patriot’s FUEL+ comes in at a handy $34.29 US when priced on Amazon.

Patriot’s offering hits the middle ground when compared with the rest of the models in this roundup. Providing two USB ports as seen with many other products, it does have the large advantage of containing a 2.5A charging port, rating it at 0.4A faster than most other options available on the market. Seeing as this is the same capacity as TYLT’s Energi, they’ve decided to distribute the weight a little differently, making something that’s more of a rectangle shape compared with the flattened-out TYLT product. I can’t really say whether this is better or worse for you in general, but from my experience the FUEL+ will fit more easily in various different pocket sizes, whereas the Energi+ is much better for packing in a backpack or handbag for travel.

Unfortunately it’s hard to recommend this over the TYLT Energi 5k+. Although priced much cheaper, the cables that are included by TYLT edge it out in front only slightly. If you’re looking to save money and couldn’t care less about cable inclusions, by all means go for this product.

To help you judge the size of each model, we will be comparing them next to a standard SATA 3.5-inch hard drive.

To help you judge the charging capacity that these batteries hold within, we’ll show you how many times they will charge various devices from 0 to 100 percent:

  • Samsung Galaxy S5 – 185%
  • Samsung Galaxy note 4 – 161%
  • Apple iPhone 6 Plus – 178%
  • Apple iPhone 6 – 287%
  • Motorola Nexus 6 – 161%
  • HTC One M8 – 200%
