“Born to TYLT” is their motto and we’re not sure what it means either, but they sure do made a great battery pack. Coming out of the box with a 5,200 mAh capacity, 14.3mm x 70mm x 142mm in size and cables pre-attached for charging your Android or latest-gen iOS device – color us impressed. However, it becomes instantly less impressive when you witness the price – $59.99 USD through Amazon’s online portal.
TYLT have made a great looking product with some fancy features – we’re a fan of the include USB cables and the option for you to still have alternative charging devices plugged in to the external frame. Are all of these options really worth an extra $40 US when comparing it to the Arctic Power Bank 4,000? It depends what you’re looking for. Ask yourself exactly what you’re looking for in this product. Do you lose your cables often, do you wish to charge multiple devices and once and do you have different makes, do you want a sleek-looking product that provides you with premium features for premium price and do you have models of technology around your house (including Android and iOS devices)? If you’ve answered yes to three or all of those questions – we’d suggest you look into TYLT’s Energi 5k+.
Since the time of receiving this product, the TYLT offering has become my personal-use device, coming with me on numerous car cruises, Jetski adventures and nights out clubbing, allowing me to easily charge my Galaxy S4 and my girlfriends Apple iPhone 5s at the same time through the supplied cables.
If we could change anything about this product (other than dropping it by at least $10 US in price), we’d like the ability to change or remove the inbuilt cabling from this device. It’s not often someone carries around an iPhone and an Android smartphone, so it would be great it these cables could somehow be removed from the product if they’re not needed – otherwise, these inbuilt cables have saved mine and my friends phones many times whilst out on the road – it’s impossible for me to forget a charging cable. It’s really up to you to device if they’re a positive or negative, depending on your situation.
To help you judge the size of each model, we will be comparing them next to a standard SATA 3.5-inch hard drive.
To help you judge the charging capacity that these batteries hold within, we’ll show you how many times they will charge various devices from 0 to 100 percent:
