PortableApps.com and CustomUSB claim/release the ‘World’s Best Flash Drive’

PortableApps.com and CustomUSB are using big words today as they claim to release the ‘world’s best flash drive’.

While it doesn’t make flashing lights or other fancy stuff, it’s a just flash drive featuring USB 3.0 interface and offering read and write speeds of up to 85 and 44 MB/s respectively (37 and 28 MB/s through USB 2.0).

The flash drive is encased in a durable aluminium casing that can also be engraved. Both front and bottom are covered with transparent plastic, one being the cap to protect the connector while the other allows you to attach the drive so you don’t lose it for instance.

One feature that is specific to this drive is the pre-loaded PotableApps.com platform, which can also be downloaded for free here. This software allows the user to create their own portable app suite that will work on any Windows PC the flash drive is plugged into. According to the creator, the PortableApps.com platform brings together a ‘full-featured portable software menu, backup utility, app store, automatic updater and application management system.’

Although we’re still unsure what is so special about this drive, the World’s Best Flash Drive (apparently that its name) is now available in the capacities of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB for the respective price of $39.95, $54.95 and $99.95 and comes with a lifetime warranty.
