This year will see one of the most highly anticipated games being released in the form of Portal 2. This long awaited sequel will create a huge footprint with its multi-player modes, but we have just learn that there’s more to it than that.
PlayStation 3 owners will be in for a big surprise as the game will add the Steam functionality that PC and Mac users already see. This means that PS3 owners will be able to multi play against PC and Mac users and also use Steam chat too.
It doesn’t stop there though, as PS3 owners will be able to link their PSN accounts to their Steam accounts to make the transition as smooth as possible. Sadly Xbox 360 owners won’t get any of these cross-platform features but will still be able to play Portal 2 none the less.
There’s even more for PS3 owners, as purchasing Portal 2 will also mean that a PC/Mac version will be unlocked upon linking their PSN/Steam accounts.
It’s still very early days to comment if the functionality will be a success but the multi-player cross-platform gameplay should be a hit in our eyes, but i guess we will just have to wait till April to see if we’re right.
