Portal Stories: Mel Reinvigorates Valve’s Iconic Puzzle Formula

Portal Stories: Mel is a single player community mod and designed to pay homage to the highly revered puzzle series. This mod features over 20 maps, brand new dialogue, models and a host of captivating puzzles. Rough estimations suggest the experience should last between 4-12 hours based on 30-45 minute levels. The difficulty curve has been set to coincide with the original game and should offer enough of a challenge without causing pacing problems for lower skilled players. Even better, this unofficial expansion will be completely free to existing owners of Portal 2 and is available today!
According to the creators, here is a rundown of what you can expect:
“In the early years of Aperture Science Innovators, Cave Johnson’s scientists rushed to get everything working to catch up with the growth of the company. Unfortunately, not everything worked as it should. Mel took part in a faulty experiment, the Aperture Science Innovators Short-Term Relaxation Vault, falling asleep for years. Now, with a fake Cave Johnson telling her she needs to escape the facility, and a new device, the mysterious Aperture Science Innovators Handheld Portal Device Prototype, her mind races with questions.”
Early indications on the Steam Reviews page are extremely promising and it looks like this will be an essential add-on for puzzle maestros. The ability to mod games and expand their lifespan is at the heart of PC Gaming and I cannot wait to try to sink my teeth into this superb creation.
