Possible AMD X390 and X399 Chipset Diagrams Leaked

The processors we’ve seen from AMD’s Ryzen line-up so far have impressed most people, but we’re far from done with this new generation of AMD processors and chipsets. Now a few new diagrams appeared on Reddit that possibly show the yet unreleased X399 and X390 platforms. We get a motherboard diagram and two chipset block diagrams.

Users inspecting the released images think that it could be an ASUS motherboard in the first diagram. Things pointing to this are the AURA RGB chipset next to the PCIE 16_2 slot, but that’s just a guess. But if it is, then this is a gaming oriented motherboard rather than a workstation board. RBG is a gamer thing, at least so far.

The socket is labelled AM44 which most likely is a typo. Although, it is quite a bit larger than an AM4 socket. So it could be a new workstation processor socket, or it could point towards a fake mockup. At this point, it’s anyone’s guess.

The two chipset block diagrams posted are for the X399 and the X390 chipsets. The X399 is for dual-CPU motherboards while the X390 is for single-CPU motherboards. The

The first diagram could be a new workstation and server platform for Naples processors. IT shows ECC memory support that we normally don’t see on gaming and enthusiast boards. The second diagram below shows the X390 chipset with fits earlier rumours about Ryzen HEDT and it is meant for those amazing 16-core 32-thread Naples CPUs that we heard about recently.

Worth noting, if these are true, is that the X390 would support up to 44 PCI-Express lanes – four more than the Intel flagship Core i7-6950X on the X99 platform has.

As with all rumours and so-called leaks, take it with a pinch of salt and not too serious. It might be true, but it might just be talented trolls taking us for a stroll. Either way, it’s interesting and it’s fun to picture the possibilities with these upcoming AMD platforms.
