Overclocking
Powercolor’s R9 280X TurboDuo was a mixed bag with overclocking. On the core we can see quite an average result of 1150MHz but on the memory we see an absolutely fantastic result of 1825MHz which surpasses that of Sapphire’s legendary Toxic Edition variant of the R9 280X. Of course it is the core that makes the most difference to performance and so it isn’t surprising to see the Powercolor card fell just behind the Club3D one in our results which had a 15MHz higher core clock.
Summary of overclocking results in our R9 280X reviews:
- Powercolor TurboDuo R9 280X – 1150MHz Core and 1825MHz memory
- HIS iPower IceQ X² Turbo Boost R9 280X – 1190MHz core and 1655MHz memory
- Club3D royalKing R9 280X – 1165MHz core and 1650MHz memory
- Sapphire Toxic Edition R9 280X – 1230MHz core and 1800MHz memory
- XFX Double Dissipation Black Edition OC R9 280X – 1125MHz core and 1735MHz memory
- Sapphire Vapor-X OC R9 280X – 1160MHz core and 1600MHz memory
With the fourth highest core overclock the Powercolor TurboDuo R9 280X was unsurprisingly the fourth fastest R9 280X we’ve tested.
