PowerColor Releases RX 480 Red Devil

Just in time for the end of the month, PowerColor has announced their top custom RX 480 graphics card. Much teased and leaked over the past month, it’s good to see that we are finally getting some official confirmation, as well as a launch date, July 29th. Based off of the new AMD Polaris 10 GPU, the PowerColor RX 480 Red Devil will come with a relatively hefty price tag of $269 USD.
As we know from previous leaks, the Red Devil comes with a large triple-fan cooler. This allows for a decent overclock to 1330 MHz powered by 6+1 phases over the 8pin PCIe power connector. This means users shouldn’t have any issue pushing the card to its limits. There is also a new Ultra OverClock BIOS mode but there’s no word yet on what that will enable. Perhaps it may be a higher power limit or a more aggressive fan curve?
“With its restless desire to rule the universe without seeing any light; Devil 13, the ruler of the underworld, created a new Devil to rise from the underworld and master all creatures. Red Devil as he was named , known to be the only Devil besides his creator to master all elements of the Hexagon. Controlling Fire, Lightning, Air, Magic Energy, Dark Soul, and Mirage, its presence was feared by all corners of the new world. Ever since, no one dared to challenge Devil’s true gaming empire.” – Powercolor
Moving on, the cooler itself features 2 medium and 2 large copper heat pipes cooled by the triple 80mm fans. The new DoubleBladeIII features improved airflow and double ball bearings as well. The $269 USD also gets you a nice backplate for both thermal dissipation and PCB protection. While the price might be a bit of a premium over the regular RX 480, the Red Devil undoubtedly brings much more to the table.
