Packaging and Bundle
Unfortunately, to use this device you have to buy both parts. Personally, I’m not fond of this approach as I’m sure it puts people off as it is effectively a hidden cost even though it is quite clear from the pictures you will soon see. We will first take a look at the packaging of the Powermat Wireless Charging Unit the base station of the pairing.
Powermat Wireless Charging Unit Packaging

From the front of the Powermat box you can see a large image of the product and pictures of the devices that you would in theory be able to charge. The box is in general of a coherent colour theme and allows you to see the device and quite an accurate idea of the size of the device. It is also designed to charge 3 devices wirelessly.
This front lifts up to reveal what looks to be another picture of the device but is in fact a transparent window with 3 devices overlaid in the window. This certainly shows you the size of the product. On the underside of the front cover is the statements Lose the Cords: with Revolutionary Powermat Wireless Charging’. Supposedly it is simple, fast, clean and energy saving. The latter caught our eye more than the others as this is something a lot of products are picking up on recently and are making huge efforts to do their bit to make the world greener.
On the bottom of this box is another picture of the Powermat with 3 devices on and charging, including an intriguing iPod dock which is unfortunately an extra. This also repeats the general mantra of Powermat and how you can charge 3 devices and it being wireless etc. By now, we’ve seen it all before.
The sides of the box are very much a similar affair and are just writing the same information this time expressed differently but the same on both sides.

Powermat Wireless Receiver Packaging

This box is quite a similar affair to its larger cousin, but this time shows you images of the Powermat Powercube which is supposedly a universal receiver.
From the back however you see that in fact it only has two different tips mini USB and Micro USB. It also shows you how to use the device even if this is quite self-explanatory. Unfortunately with this device it now becomes clear that you still in fact have a wire going between the cube which is sat on the mat and the device.
In now traditional fashion this front open up to reveal two transparent windows but of course there is only one device. The other cube is in fact a container for the tip that you are not using’. They do in fact look quite similar although one clearly has a hinge and is of a slightly different design. On the left you can read about the Powermat Powercube and how it is Drop and Charge’. It also lists that this device will enable the Powermat to work with; Phones, MP3 Players, Bluetooth Headsets, GPS and Digital Books. This is quite an impressive list.
