Powermat Wireless Charging Unit and Receiving Unit Review

Final Thoughts
In conclusion, this device works as expected. However, unless you have one of the more expensive mainstream devices this device does not wirelessly charge up your devices. There also some other fundamental flaws, for instance, to charge more than 1 device at a time you need more than 1 receiver which quite frankly really adds to the cost of the device. The buttons on the back of the device are also clumsy and quite hard to press as well as the sound effect being stupid and quite annoying. You will want to turn the sound off immediately.
On the other hand, this device does work and if you have a Blackberry and can afford to buy a new back cover or buy a case for your iPhone then this device will work quite well. It is undeniably more energy efficient for these devices but for some devices it won’t be anywhere near and will end up with you leaving the house without a fully charged device if you’re not careful.
It is hard to summarise what I think about this device, I feel it is quite a cool idea but it doesn’t fill a need as such. Why would you spend quite a bit of money to charge a phone for instance when the chargers come with the phone? Yes it could make things tidier and less cables is certainly a good thing. Unfortunately it is not good enough yet to remove cables fully and so it doesn’t fulfil this. For this reason I don’t recommend buying this device unless you have more than 1 Blackberry or iPhones that need charging and can afford to pay over £100 extra to do this.
Hopefully someone will soon use this brilliant technology and build a great device around it but until then we feel it is not ready for the general consumer market.
