It’s not uncommon before a game is released to have a little bit of pre-emptive downloading on your system. This usually applied in instances where you have pre-ordered the game and to ensure you can play it immediately on launch, the game downloads about 95% of the data beforehand with a key 5% left until the actual release.
Well, Crackdown 3 isn’t actually arriving until next year, but that seemingly hasn’t stopped the Microsoft Store springing into action. Before you go looking for a bootleg or early copy though, in a report via PCGamesN, the pre-emptive download has only actually downloaded 7mb (yes, megabytes) of data.
Well, it appears that you’re getting two files, both of which are executables. One is for the game main while another appears to be for the multiplayer mode. Both of which, however, will greet you with a ‘you’re too early’ if you try and run them.
All indications suggest that Crackdown 3 will release on February 15th. This has been moved up a little from the previous estimate. We would, however, suggest taking that take with a little pinch of salt. This game has been a long time coming and has seen multiple delays in the past.
There does, however, finally appear to be light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s hope it’s not an oncoming train.
