Synaptics CES 2017

Synaptics are one of the leading innovators in the world of input devices and connectivity, and that was very much true at CES 2017, where they showed off a range of impressive new hardware. They kicked things off with their VMM5330, a small device capable of delivering dual 4K 60Hz display outputs over a single cable. It runs off a single DP1.4 GPU cable and still delivers up to 10-bit HDR to both displays, which is perfect for expanding the screen space from your notebook.

Fancy yourself as a bit of a tinkerer? Check out the Tourmalet Hobbyist Touchscreen Development Kit. Using the Synaptics 4100 TDDI In-cell Touchscreen display, it comes with an Android-powered Qualcomm DragonBoard 410c system that’s perfect for a comms device or media player. The fun part, you get to put it together yourself, which is great for your modding projects.

Remeber the Iron Veil tech we reviewed after CES last year? It’s no longer a prototype! The hardware comes with a fingerprint sensor right in the mouse, allowing you to save passwords, system locks, bank details and more in a secure fashion. Simply put your thumb in place and you’re ready to rock.
