Pretec P240 USB 3.0 Multi Card Reader Review

AIDA64 Extreme Edition is a streamlined Windows diagnostic and benchmarking software for home users. AIDA64 Extreme Edition provides a wide range of features to assist in overclocking, hardware error diagnosis, stress testing, and sensor monitoring. It has unique capabilities to assess the performance of the processor, system memory, and disk drives. AIDA64 is compatible with all current 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

To see how the reader performs, we decided to match it up against a number of other readers that we have to use, utilising Pretec’s own SDHC card that we looked at not too long ago. When we look at the results, the difference between the USB2.0 and 3.0 readers is clear, as would be expected with the faster interface. The close match that we find here is against the JMicron internal reader, however we are happy to see that the P240 just pulls in front with an average read speed of 54.6MB/s and write of 41.8MB/s.
