Prices for AMD’s upcoming Radeon HD 7000 series

Rumours come and go, as we all know, they most usually accompany the products long awaited, more so if they’re on the verge of release. Although today’s news is not so much a rumour, but something a little more concrete, as we see a couple of price tags for AMD’s upcoming Radeon HD 7000 series.
The price tag is for the “Tahiti” chip, which should see the faster version hit $549 while the slower one should be somewhere around $449.
Now you can’t expect these prices to stay as they are, until the release, AMD still has plenty of time to make “adjustments.” Even the names are not certain, as it is officially chosen only once the partners boxes are sent for printing, although so far, we’ve seen most partners using HD 7950 and HD 7970, while the prices themselves came from AMD.
We reported not so long ago that AMD planned to ship the cards on the first week of December, making holiday shopping a nice addition to the revenue, but that’s what was planned. Unfortunately TSMC is in the centre of the ‘problem’, as it seems that even the yields of the 40nm HD 6900 series are still not great, moreover TSMC is also the one responsible for delaying the HD 7000 to an early-January shipping date.
