Prototype 4090 Ti/Titan I/O Shield Spotted on eBay

NVIDIA’s RTX 40 series is mostly complete with the only exceptions being the recently rumoured Super series cards as well as the unlikely but long-rumoured 4090 Ti or 40 Series Titan. The latter has been spotted several times in the form of a quad-slot prototype cooler mostly on reselling websites. The I/O plate of this prototype cooler has been recently spotted on eBay resurfacing the rumours surrounding this card.

RTX 4090 Ti IO Shield on eBay

A listing for the I/O shield of this prototype cooler was spotted on eBay by @ISLEOFSTAR on Twitter (Via VideoCardz). Unlike previous listings that have been seen on Chinese websites, this one doesn’t include the rest of the GPU and is simply just the I/O shield with its vertical Display outputs due to the unique design of the cooler itself with the PCB mounted at a 90-degree angle.

The Listing, which can be viewed here, features the backplates for the RTX 4090 and RTX 4090 Ti with 5 available and three sold. Clearly, there are several of these prototypes in the wild if five are available, especially at such a low price considering some collectors will be happy to snag these up.

The fact that many of these prototypes are in the wild also points towards these coolers remaining just a prototype and never actually seeing an official launch this generation or maybe even for future generations. It is entirely possible that the 90-degree concept just didn’t work and this cooler could’ve even just been a prototype for the standard 4090. Further reinforcing that claim is the fact that NVIDIA likely doesn’t have much of a reason to introduce anything more powerful than the 4090 just yet as there just isn’t much demand for it not to mention not much competition from AMD.
