While sure, Sony have some built in features that allow you to record, edit and upload video game clips, or even stream a few videos to your friends, this isn’t a system that offers the same features as many others currently use. The use of an external capture device means you can rip HD footage to your PC for further editing, something that is vital in the gaming review industry, as well as by many players in the eSports community that want to stream multiple players.
The announcement came during the Tokyo Game Show 2013 keynote, Brad Douglas, head of third-party relations for Sony Computer Entertainment, tweeted confirmation of the feature shortly afterwards.
Are you happy your capture device will still work on the next-gen PlayStation 4? I know I am, especially given that my Hauppage HD PVR2 was a big investment.
